James Anderson and Danette Ewoldt are not your normal real estate professionals. They both have their own portfolio of long and short term rental properties. They have extensive experience in investment properties and Danette is a CPA with a wealth of knowledge on the financial and tax implication of rental properties. Together they believe in investing in real estate to build wealth for their families and would love to share their knowledge on how you can build wealth for your family!

Who We Are

James Anderson

James is married to his lifelong love and is a proud father of three boys and one girl. His core belief has always been to prioritize family.


Initially, he kickstarted his career as a Kinesiology Professor and Men’s Volleyball Coach, a role he held for approximately six years, where his passion for sports and mentoring athletes to reach their full potential blossomed. While still enthusiastic about all sports, James has recently turned his focus to pickleball and golf as his hobbies.


Real estate has been an integral part of James' family history, dating back to his grandfather who accumulated assets during his leisure time. Inspired by his grandfather's dedication, James ventured into residential real estate to secure financial stability for his own family. Drawing from his family's real estate legacy and experience, James is driven to establish generational wealth.


Motivated by the advantages of financial security and an improved quality of life for his family, James and his family relocated to Texas in 2021.


Having personally witnessed the benefits of real estate investments, James became an investor himself, directing his resources towards his immediate family's prosperity. Recognizing the significance of effective property management, he delved into the real estate industry with the goal of assisting other families in finding their dream homes and paving the way for future financial security.

Danette Ewoldt

Danette started her career in public accounting within the tax department, where she accumulated six years of valuable experience in tax-related matters. Transitioning from public accounting, she focused on tax and financial work independently for various clients. Later, she assumed the role of CFO at a large HOA insurance company, overseeing its financial health for 22 years until her retirement in 2020.


In 2008, Danette acquired her real estate license to pursue her passion for homes, design, and real estate investing. Collaborating with friends, family, and investors, she ventured into purchasing investment properties and applied her financial and real estate expertise effectively. With a background in construction acquired from her father, a custom home builder, Danette developed a keen eye for design and property structures. Leveraging her design passion, she bought and renovated properties, enhancing their appeal for investment purposes.


Danette’s diverse expertise in finance, taxes, and real estate makes her an invaluable asset to clients seeking guidance on their first home purchase or investment. Her ability to recognize a property’s potential equity, often overlooked by many, ensures clients make well-informed decisions.


During her leisure time, Danette cherishes moments with her grown children and four grandchildren. She also enjoys pursuing her hobbies, such as crafting in her workshop, golfing, and traveling with her husband.

Services by For the Family Realty include coordinating repair and maintenance tasks for tenants and owners. Owners have the option to be completely hands-off, set repair thresholds, or approve all repairs as needed.

Software

We utilize the top property management software available in the market. Property owners can access their online portal for complete visibility and receive automatic rent disbursements and statements.

No-Obligation Contract

Our management contracts with owners are based on no-obligation terms. Owners have the flexibility to cancel at any time with a 30-day notice period.

My wife and I, originally from Southern California, reached a pivotal moment as our state experienced profound changes. My wife, working as a NICU nurse, and me working as a Kinesiology instructor and volleyball coach, we found ourselves financially stretched and longing for more family time with our sons. Then, the pandemic hit, bringing a wave of transformations to California, leading to a tipping point for us. With the birth of our third son during lockdown, we faced challenges like masked kindergarteners as well as masked speech therapy for our 2 year old. How do you work on speech when half your face is covered? Friends who had already moved out of state shared their positive experiences, motivating us to take a leap of faith. With prayers guiding us and Jessica's parents supporting our decision, we set off for a new beginning. In December 2021, we said goodbye to California and hello to Celina, Texas. Choosing Celina felt like discovering a hidden gem - a close-knit community with neighbors who felt like family, welcoming and familiar. Here, we found the freedom to homeschool our children, impart our values, and nurture them with love. With a stable housing market and lower cost of living, we could finally pursue our dream of spending more quality time with our little ones. As we embraced our newfound family time, the idea of expanding our family took root. In July 2023, our daughter graced our lives, bringing immense happiness. She is adored by her brothers, and our hearts overflow with joy. Life in Texas is like living in a dream we never want to end.

Read Danette’s Story

My husband and I began our journey in Southern California, where we both grew up and attended college at SDSU. Together, we raised our three children. In 2018, after our youngest child graduated high school, we purchased our forever home on a hill in Ladera Ranch California with plans to settle there permanently. During our 35 year marriage, my husband always talked about leaving California. I never dreamed he could actually persuade me. During the Pandemic, I took early retirement from my job of 25 years as a CFO. Chris and I began traveling more and exploring various parts of the country. A trip to Dallas, Waco, and Austin left me with a strong feeling of belonging due to the warmth of the people, freedom, open space, hospitality, food, and entertainment. This led to serious discussions about moving. Witnessing our daughter and her family face challenges accessing education and medical care for their children solidified our resolve to relocate in pursuit of a better life for us, our children, and grandchildren. Despite the difficulty of leaving our sons behind, with Chris’ encouragement and promises of regular visits back to California, we made the move. Looking back, it was the best decision we ever made. We settled on 3 acres in a delightful community in Prosper, near our daughter and her family. Our sons visit us several times a year, and the time we spend together is cherished. Although we miss the spontaneous visits from our sons, the quality time we now share with them is priceless. They visit often and stay at the house for 3-7 days where we stay up until late hours hanging out in our golf simulator, playing pickle ball or just having great conversations. When our adult children come over not just to visit but to hang for a few days, it a bit like the old days when they were young, and we were all in the same house. The biggest honor in life is having your kids grow up to want to spend time with you!

There is lots to do nearby as well. For instance, Lake Texoma is only 45 minutes up the road and is hands down the best lake for water sports and recreation we have ever experienced. PGA is just 10 miles down the road offering the best golf experience to be had anywhere. I guess the lesson learned is never isn’t always never. We have many friends and family members who thought they would never leave CA. However, after sampling the lifestyle and people of Texas, some have changed their minds already.
